CBE was founded in 1974 as Capitol Business Equipment, Inc., with calculators and typewriters being the key products. As technology advanced, the need for point-of-sale equipment became more in demand, and the company changed its total focus to selling and supporting point-of-sale equipment to the hospitality/C-store industry. During this time, the company adopted the shortened version of Capitol Business Equipment, and became known as CBE. The current owner/CEO, Loring White, started with the company in 1978 as a salesman. He has been integral to the growth of the company, and still today is the driving force.
